Yeti Cooler Comparison #1: Yeti vs Canyon Coolers

In the end, we ruled that there are two winners (and losers) in the Canyon Coolers vs Yeti Coolers showdown. To help you decide which is the best for you, here are the highlights of each ice chest cooler:

Canyon Cooler vs Yeti Comparison Highlights

Canyon vs Yeti Coolers
Canyon’s “Mule” Best Wheeled Cooler
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • Much cheaper
  • Easier to pack
  • Made in the USA
  • Offers the wheeled “Mule” ice chest
  • Doesn’t have the “status symbol” of Yetis
  • Isn’t available in as many sizes
  • Less attractive

Yeti Cooler Highlights

  • Five year limited warranty

    Yeti vs
The Yeti Roadie (More Pictures Available)
  • Much more attractive
  • Yetis are “status symbols”
  • Offers collegiate coolers
  • Mostly outsourced
  • Very Expensive

If we HAD to decide on a winner, Canyon Coolers win our Canyon Coolers vs Yeti Coolers research. And that’s only because they’re such good cheap rotomolded coolers.

However, both ice chests are A+ coolers. If you were looking for any big differences between ice retention or durability, there just isn’t much of a difference.

If you’re looking to save money, buy a Canyon. And also, lifetime warranty, anyone?

Unless, of course, you want the sexiest, sleekest cooler on the market and don’t mind paying extra for the status symbol and appearance. In this case, enjoy your new Yeti!

Yeti Comparison #2: Orca vs Yeti

If we had to choose the best cooler, it would be the Orca brand cooler. The reasons for this are simple:

Best Coolers for Sale
More Pictures/Colors Available
  • Orca Coolers have much better ice retention.
  • Plus they come with a lifetime warranty.
  • The Orca Gear Molle Wrap…need we say more?
  • Orcas are 100% American-made.
  • Orcas have a bigger variety of colors and patterns.

All this being said, Orca Coolers for sale are only available in sizes up to 140 quarts. Yeti extends all the way to 350. In that area, Yeti Coolers are winning by a landslide.

Both ice chests are pretty damn dependable. They’re built well, are similar in most categories, and even look alike. Of course, different people will be happier with different brands. It all depends on your preferences for factors like ice retention, customization, etc.

Yeti Comparison #3: Yeti vs Pelican Coolers

Similarities in Construction

Yeti Cooler Comparison
More Colors/Discounts Available

These similarities in construction are most important because they show how both coolers are built exceptionally well.

However, Pelican Coolers have better ice retention and more extras. Pelican has a line of wheeled coolers available, and their rotomolded coolers have rotomolded fish rulers on the lid. Yeti Ice Chests lack both of these. (However, it is possible to construct your own Yeti cooler wheels.)

Yeti Comparison #5: Yeti vs Bison Coolers

This was a tough call to make.

Bison Coolers are easier to use. They’re extra marine-friendly, with their no-metal construction and built-in ruler. If you have a lower budget, you won’t be disappointed with your Bison. It falls only a fraction behind the Yeti.

Yeti Coolers are more durable and better at holding ice, which are the most important factors when considering which cooler to purchase.

You can use them for both short trips and week-long expeditions. (Tip: for maximum ice retention, pre-cool 24 hours before packing.)

Yeti’s are the highest quality cooler of the two. If your budget calls for a Bison, we promise it’ll still be an excellent cooler. Relax, and get out there doing what you love!

And now, we’ll make our official declaration: Yeti’s are the winners of our Bison vs Yeti Coolers comparison.

Yeti Comparison #6: Igloo Coolers vs Yeti Coolers

Yeti Cooler Comparison
Check out the Igloo Marine Ultra Cooler – it’s a cut above the rest

Unsurprisingly, the Yeti model is the finest cooler in terms of ice retention and durability.

Igloo Coolers are fine if you’re not going to be ultra-tough on your equipment. But if you know you’ll be using your cooler every weekend for things like hunting and fishing, go for a Yeti.

However, there’s one thing we must be very clear about: Igloo Coolers are excellent ice chests for many purposes. If you’re not a hardcore, camp-in-the-wilderness type outdoors person, don’t blow off Igloos. They’re respectable ice chests, which is why they’ve maintained popularity across American for over a decade.

Yeti Comparison #7: Yeti vs Coleman Extreme Coolers

Both Yeti and Coleman Xtreme Ice Chests are winners – depending on what you need in a cooler. In fact, the “vs” in Coleman Xtreme Coolers vs Yeti Coolers comparison might as well be switched to an “and/or.”

Go for the Coleman Xtreme Cooler, if you’re not interested in long, heavy-duty camping, hunting, or fishing trips. A Coleman Xtreme Cooler may be your best bet, if you’re not going to be away from an ice source for long. Coleman Xtreme Coolers are ideal for your brief, but oh-so-relaxing weekend ventures.

Buy an ultra-tough Yeti Cooler for more intense ventures. You won’t be disappointed – nearly all customers give it a five star rating.

We stand by our title, Coleman Xtreme Coolers vs Yeti Coolers: Apples and Oranges?  It’s not a battle but rather a comparison of ice chests intended for such different purposes that it’s like comparing apples to oranges.

Choose which one fits your budget and vacation style, and the best cooler for you will become crystal clear.

Yeti Comparison #8: K2 Coolers vs Yeti

After considering all of this data, we’ve concluded that there are multiple similarities. Both brands are sketchy about where their coolers are produced.

Additionally, K2 Coolers hold ice about the same as Yeti Coolers. K2 offers more color options, so bonus points in that department. All things considered, K2 Coolers are about the same as Yeti Coolers – only much cheaper.

The Yeti!

Yeti Coolers are more durable, available in a wider range of sizes, constructed in a more reliable fashion, able to keep ice cold for longer periods of time, and likely to last longer than a Grizzly Cooler.

We’ve been rather harsh to Yeti Coolers in our other posts, but the evidence for their superiority over Grizzly Coolers is just too solid to ignore.
